State-by-state guide

We offer California, Florida, FBI and Fingerprint Card Processing (FD-258) at nationwide locations.

• If you are in California, you will need to have a copy of the Request for Live Scan Form, service providers in California cannot submit your Live Scan transaction without this form. We would highly recommend that you contact your employer or requesting agency to get the correct form to avoid any errors or delays. You have the option of enrolling online and getting a token that you can use at any of our locations in California for faster processing. If you are outside of California, you can use our nationwide network to capture your fingerprints and print them onto an FD-258 card.
• If you are in Florida, you will need to get an ORI number from your employer or requesting agency. Once you have the ORI number required for your application type, you can then enroll online and walk into your selected location. All Live Scan transactions are transmitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) or ACHA, you will be given a TCN number that you can provide to your requesting agency so that they are able to view your background check results. Note: If you are currently outside of Florida, you can still use our nationwide locations to get your Florida Live Scan completed, however, you will need to enroll online.
• If you are in any other state, you will still have the option for Live Scan, however, your fingerprints can be printed onto an FD-258 card and mailed to you, you will need to confirm if your requesting agency will accept a copy of your fingerprints on an FD-258 card. You will also have the option to submit a digital copy of your fingerprints to the FBI for an FBI background check also known as an FBI report or rap sheet. Once your FBI background check is received, you will receive an online access code that you can use to download a copy of your FBI report or Rap Sheet online.

Finding a location

Our services are available at 1200+ nationwide locations for both Live Scan and fingerprint card submission.

• In California, you can walk into any of our statewide locations with a copy of your Request for Live Scan form or you can enroll online for faster processing. If you enroll online, you will be assigned a token that can be presented to the operator at the location, they will be able to pull up your transaction data and capture your fingerprints without having to pay onsite. If you are outside of California, you can use any of our nationwide locations to capture your fingerprints which will then be printed onto an FD-258 card.
• In Florida, you can walk into any of our statewide locations, however, you will need to have a copy of your ORI number.  We would recommend that you enroll online to ensure all of your information is provided correctly to the location, this is also required if you plan to use any of the UPS Store locations listed on our website. If you are not currently in Florida, you can use any of our nationwide locations to submit a copy of your fingerprints for a Florida-based background check, this service requires that you enroll online. You will be given a TCN number that you can then present to your requesting agency so that they are able to view your background check results.
• If you are in any other state and require a copy of your fingerprints to be captured, you can use our nationwide locations, however, you will only have the option to get a copy of your fingerprints on an FD-258 card that would be mailed to you, this is provided through our fingerprint card service. You also have the option to use our nationwide locations to request a copy of your FBI background check, this service requires that you enroll online, once fingerprinted, you will be given an online access code that you can use to download a copy of your FBI report or Rap Sheet.

Getting fingerprinted

Our online enrollment process allows you to seamlessly capture your fingerprints without having to provide your confidential data at the location.

• In California, you will need to present a copy of your Request for Live Scan form and the operator will manually type your information into the fingerprint system.  If you enroll online, the operator will be able to seamlessly download your transaction information and capture your fingerprints without the need for payment and you will be issued an ATI number that you can use to look up the status of your background check online. If you are outside of California, you can enroll online to utilize one of our nationwide locations to get your fingerprints printed onto an FD-258 card.
• In Florida, you will need to present your ORI number at the location or enroll online, the operator will then proceed to capture your fingerprints and submit them to FDLE or AHCA. In the case of AHCA, a photo will also be captured during the fingerprinting session. Florida fingerprinting services are available at nationwide locations, simply enroll online and present the operator with your QR code and they will proceed to verify your identity and capture your fingerprints, you will then be emailed a TCN number that you can provide to your requesting agency to view your background check results.
• If you need to submit your fingerprints to other states, the only option that we have is the fingerprint card service where your fingerprints are printed and mailed to you on an FD-258 card. You will need to verify that your requesting state or federal agency accepts fingerprints on an FD-258 card and if they do, you can enroll online for the fingerprint card service. As an alternative, we offer the nationwide FBI fingerprinting service, where we will capture your fingerprints and transmit them to the FBI for an FBI background check. In the case of the FBI service, you will not receive a copy of your FD-258 card, however, we will electronically transmit your fingerprints to the FBI and you will then be able to download an FBI report or Rap Sheet online.
